Shillong, March 7: The 3rd Janaushadhi Diwas, was celebrated on March 7th. It was a week-long celebration starting from 1st March during which more than 1000 health checkup camps were conducted across the country. In an effort to provide quality medicines at affordable costs, Janaushadhi Kendras are setup under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana(PMBJP) initiative. The total number of stores setup so far under this scheme is 7499, covering all the districts in the country. Medicines are provided at cost 50% to 90% cheaper than the market rates making life saving medicines affordable to all.
As a part of the celebrations, PM Narendra Modi addressed all the stakeholders and dedicated the 7500th Janaushadhi Kendra at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS), Shillong in the service of the nation.
