International Space Station (ISS) gets its own FRIDGE

Ever wondered about the dining experience in space? The ISS astronauts, normally have to rely on re-hydrated and frozen food during their stay but soon this may change.
BioServe Space Technologies from university at Colorado have designed an amazing refrigeration system, Freezer Refrigerator Incubator Device for Galley and Experimentation (aka the FRIDGE). It is about a size of a standard microwave and does not have any rotating parts or fans. If you are wondering about the heat produced, as a normal household refrigerator does, the FRIDGE is connected to the water cooling system of ISS where it dissipates its heat and hence keeps itself cool! This seems to be the best place to keep medicines, perishable food and the fresh food produced by the in-house hydrophonic (growing plants without soil) garden, so NASA has employed eight such FRIDGEs. Coool right!
