Covering the entire 7,516 km coastline
The Indian Navy, in association with the Indian Coast Guard, conducted the largest coastal defence exercise on January 12th and 13th of this year. The exercise is called the Sea Vigil. It was the second edition and happens two times every year. The aim of the exercise was to prove the efficiency of India’s coastal defence systems against threats arising from the sea.
The drill was undertaken along the entire 7,516 km of India’s coastline and Exclusive Economic Zone of India. It involved all the 13 coastal states and union territories. It also included the coastal and fishing communities.
