India’s GSLV-F10/EOS-03 Mission Faces Setback

With news inputs from Alka Singh

Chennai, Aug 12: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-F10 (GSLV-F10) today at 5:43 am from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh as per the schedule. The GSLV rocket was expected to place the Earth Observation Satellite (EOS)-03 into the intended orbit. The performance of the first and second stage of the rocket was normal but the cryogenic upper stage ignition did not happen due to some technical problem, so the mission could not be accomplished as intended.

The EOS-3 satellite was intended to provide real-time imaging at frequent intervals which will help in monitoring natural disasters and other events.
