India Rules at the World Archery Youth Championship

Wroclaw (Poland), Aug 14: The World Archery Youth Championship is an international archery competition held every alternate year since 1991, hosted each time by a different country. There are various events in cadet and junior categories using the recurve and compound bows. This year the 16th edition of the competition was held in Wroclaw where junior and cadet events were held for those under 20 and 18 years of age respectively.

India displayed its best show ever at the event this year, with three gold medals across all compound cadet women’s, men’s, and mixed team events. The women’s team defeated Turkey while the men’s team defeated USA in the finals to grab gold medals. The women’s winning team had Priya Gurjar, Ridhu Varshini Senthilkumar and Parneet Kaur and the men’s team had Kushal Dalal, Sahil Chaudhary and Nitin Apar. The cadet compound mixed duo Priya Gurjar and Kushal Dadal also saw a victory after defeating USA. Besides 3 gold medals, India also won one silver and one bronze medal. Priya Gurjar and Parneet Kaur brought in the silver and bronze in compound cadet women’s individual event respectively.

Thanks to these fantastic performances, India finished as the best performing nation at this year’s
World Archery Youth Championship.
