The longest piece of bituminous concrete laid continuously in 105 hours and 33 minutes on NH 53 – In short, the fastest laid road in the world.
The road built was 75 kilometers long. It was completed by working non stop for 105 hours and 33 minutes – work started on 3rd June 2022 at 7:27 am and completed on 7th June 2022 at 5 pm.
The road was laid on NH(National Highway) 53. It lies between Amrawati and Akola in Maharashtra.
Some Key Numbers
The previous record for the fastest road laying using the bituminous concrete mixture was in Doha, Qatar in February 2019, and that stood at just 25.274 kms – about one third this record. That task took 10 days to complete, as opposed to less than half the time this time.
The National Roadways Minister, Shri Nitin Gadkari, congratulated all the engineers, contractors, consultants, workers from NHAI and Raj Path Infracon Pvt. Ltd. for efficient implementation of the project.
