India has stopped the Indian Premier League cricket tournament

Delhi, May 4: The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a cricket tournament that is held among cricket clubs. IPL 2021 was currently underway.
Today, the organisers decided to suspend (place on hold) the tournament.
The reasons for this indefinite suspension are:

A. India is going through the second wave of Covid. Many people are affected.

B. There is a risk of players getting the virus and being unwell.

C. The country is dealing with a health crisis, and sporting events like IPL at this time appeared frivolous (not serious) to some people.

A meeting was held between the organisers of the tournament and BCCI – Board of Control for Cricket in India. Both parties decided that because of the current circumstances, it was best to suspend the tournament. There is no date for when the tournament will resume (start again).
