IAF inducts the first batch of Prachand: Light Combat Helicopters

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has delivered the first batch of four Light Combat Helicopters (LCH). The 4 choppers were inducted into the 143 Helicopter Unit of the Indian Air Force in a ceremony on October 3rd.

The ceremony was attended by the Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. Gen. Anil Chauhan, and Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari, among others.

About LCH Prachand

प्रचंड weighs 5.8 tonnes (5800 kilograms).

It has two engines (such a craft is called a twin engine).

It is equipped with air-to-air missiles, turret guns, rocket systems, and other weapons.

It is primarily designed to work in high-altitude areas. India is bordered in the North by the mighty Himalayas. This means that our defence forces need to have high-altitude equipment.

India has been a net importer of defence equipment. Tejas Light Combat Aircraft and and Prachand Light Combat Helicopter are important made in India projects.
