Usually, it is easy to spot a fake email. It will have one of the following characteristics:
A. You have won a free lottery.
B. You are selected for a part time job.
For example, this email appears to be a benefit from the well-known pharmaceutical company, Boots:
ut when we click on the sender’s email address details, we find that it is:
Which means it is an email coming from Brazil (.br) and is likely not a valid email.
And then they level up!
One of the best ways to identify fake emails is to open up the sender’s actual email address (it is usually in the arrow brackets).
The email above is exemplary because it is an email sent by SBILife to update the KYC of a Dubai bank!
What does one do in such a case?
For this receiver, the saving grace was that they did not have an account with the Dubai Islamic Bank.
But what if you do have an account in that bank and a legit email address emails to update?
Even so, do not click on links in emails. Go to the bank and complete the KYC.
