Heat wave in Northwestern India, set to intensify this week

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heat wave warning for North-Western parts of India. The image above is the warning for 25th May. The heat wave is set to intensify further and spread to Central India (Jhansi, Banda, Fatehpur, Prayagraj, etc.)

Rainfall Warning

Ironically, the rest of the country has heavy rainfall warning. Tamil Nadu and Kerala both are experiencing heavy rains which are NOT from the Southwest Monsoon.

Predicted Onset of Monsoon

This year, IMD has predicted that the Southwest monsoon winds are likely to reach Kerala on 1st June. Usually, this prediction is within 4 days of the actual onset. We expect the same this year too.
