Beautiful Images Released By NASA
Chennai, Feb 25: A stunning picture of cosmic jewellery known as the Necklace Nebula was released by NASA on social media today. Necklace Nebula is a glowing aftermath of an exploded star. It consists of a bright ring that is about 19 trillion kilometres wide. It is dotted with dense, bright knots of gas that resemble diamonds in a necklace. It is located about 15,000 light years away.
This picture was captured by the Wide Field Camera 3. The glowing gases are hydrogen (blue), oxygen (green), and nitrogen (red).
The Necklace Nebula was first discovered in 2005 through the Isaac Newton Telescope Photometric H-alpha Survey (IPHAS).
