Global Biofuels Alliance

Brazil, India, and the United States, as leading biofuel producers and consumers, worked together to successfully launch the Global Biofuels Alliance on Saturday evening (September 9th 2023).

This Alliance will try to facilitate cooperation and the use of sustainable biofuels, including in the transportation sector.

The Alliance will focus on strengthening markets, facilitating global biofuels trade, developing concrete policy, lesson-sharing, and providing technical support for national biofuels programs worldwide. It will also learn from the already implemented best practices and success cases.

The Global Biofuel Alliance is one of the priorities under India’s G20 Presidency and was announced by Shri Hardeep S Puri, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs during India Energy Week 2023.

The Alliance opened with nine member countries – India, the US, Brazil, Argentina, Bangladesh, Italy, Mauritius, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. Canada and Singapore are observer countries.

19 countries and 12 international organisations have agreed to join the GBA.
