This week, fresh snowfall in Jammu region, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and other Himalayan states led to lower temperatures – not just in the hills, but also in the plains that lie at the foothills.
The precipitation (rainfall + snowfall) in these regions is more than 60% higher than what is expected at this time of the year.
This week is likely to be tough too, with fog and cold warnings issued for places in Uttarakhand, western Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Arunachal Pradesh, Darjeeling, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, and a few other states.
