Sochi, Sep 26: Lewis Hamilton became the first Formula One driver to win 100 Grand Prix races as he claimed
victory in the Russian Grand Prix. The win also saw the Mercedes driver retake the championship lead from Red
Bull racer Max Verstappen, who finished second at Sochi’s Olympic Park. Carlos Sainz, driving for Ferrari,
bagged the third place at the race.
It was Hamilton’s fifth win of the season and his first since the British Grand Prix in July. With this, Hamilton has now
won the Russian Grand Prix on five of the eight occasions that he has participated in, and his victory continues the
clean sweep of victories in Russia for Mercedes cars.
