The North East part of India is not as well connected by air route as some other parts of the country.
Being a mountainous and green terrain, building huge airports in the region is not sustainable.
The best way to connect locations in the North East is through helicopters and small aircraft that can use small runways. This allows connectivity without clearing large tracts of land.
Today, a Dornier aircraft (HAL Dornier Do-228) that has been made in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, took off from Pasigarh (Arunachal Pradesh) for Dibrugarh (Assam).
The flight was flagged off by the Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, and the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Shri Pema Khandu.
Alliance Air will operate these Indian Dornier aircraft on the sector Dibrugarh – Tezu – Pasighat – Ziro.
These airplanes will be called Hindustan Aircraft.
In the first phase, 2 aircraft will be stationed at Dibrugarh to connect Pasigarh, Ziro, and Tezu.
In the second phase, Mechuka, Tuting and Vijoy Nagar are expected to be connected.
