Gujarat June 6: The Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) dispatched its first consignment of nano urea liquid to farmers in Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Nano urea is a patented liquid fertilizer introduced by IFFCO after many years of research by IFFCO’s scientists and engineers developed using nanotechnology at its Nanobiotechnology Research Centre in Kalol, Gujarat. This product is expected to replace the use of urea granules in agriculture.
Urea is the most important nitrogenous fertilizer that provides nitrogen to plants. It is a white granular organic chemical compound that contains a very high nitrogen content and can adapt to almost all kinds of soils. However, urea is bad for the environment, and it also kills earthworms. Excess urea can harm the soil’s health, and can also make plants more susceptible to insects and diseases.
A 500 ml bottle of liquid nano urea is equivalent to one bag of conventional urea. It also contains 40,000 ppm of nitrogen. When nano urea liquid is sprayed, it is easily absorbed by plant leaves due to the ultra-small size and surface properties of nano urea. Since it fixes nitrogen effectively, the crops become stronger and healthier. It also increases crop production, and will have a positive impact on the quality of underground water.
This product was inspired from the call of our prime minister to reduce the use of urea.
