Eugene, Aug 21: Jamaican runner, Elaine Thompson Hera ran the second fastest in the 100m women’s category that the Diamond League has ever seen. Her new 100m world lead is of 10.54 seconds. She was also the gold medalist at Tokyo Olympics 100m sprint, winning her second consecutive Olympic gold medal.
The Diamond League is an annual series of track and field athletic competitions. Only Florence Griffith-Joyner from the US has ever run faster than Elaine. She set her world record in 1988 of 10.49 secs.
Elaine Thompson Hera finished first, followed by her compatriots Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson who were second and third respectively. Sha’Carri Richardson from the US finished last. In the women’s 200m Mujinga Kambundji, of Switzerland finished first, followed by Gabrielle Thomas of the US and Dina Asher-Smith from Britain finished in the third place.
