Delhi, Mar 31: The Election Commission today announced that because of staff shortage and the recent Covid restrictions, Assembly elections in the state of Tamil Nadu, which were scheduled for April 6th ,have been moved to April 30th.
At this time, 5 states are preparing for Assembly Elections. The legislative assembly is the local state government of any state.
The 5 states currently going to polls are: Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.
Assam is conducting its polls for 126 Assembly seats in 3 phases and Bengal (294 constituencies) in 5 phases. Phases help the Election Commission conduct elections in one part of the state before moving to the next part.
Tamil Nadu (234 constituencies), Puducherry (30 seats), and Kerala (140 seats) elections were being held in a single phase and on the same day – 6th April.
The Election Commission has now said that the Tamil Nadu elections will be held on April 30th .
