The Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, gave away the seventh edition of Digital India Awards in Delhi on 7th January, 2023.
What are Digital India Awards?
Digital India Awards (DIA) were first introduced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India (MeitY), under the sponsorship of National Portal of India to encourage and honour innovative digital solutions.
The aim of the awards is to not only motivate goverment entities, but also start-ups and grassroot level digital initiatives in fulfilling the Digital India vision.
The Digital India awards were given in seven different categories –
Digital Empowerment of Citizens,
Public Digital Platforms,
Digital Initiatives in Collaboration with Start-ups,
Digital Initiative for ease of doing business,
Data sharing and use for socioeconomic development,
Digital Initiatives at the Grassroots level,
Best Web and Mobile initiatives.
Under each category Platinum, Gold, and Silver awards have been given.
Who are Digital India Awardees?
1. Digital Empowerment of Citizens
PLATINUM
National Agriculture Market or eNAM (e stands for electronic) is an online trading platform for agricultural commodities in India.
GOLD
Transport Mission Mode Project (eTransport)
It is one of the 27 mission mode project which facilitates various transport services in computerized, user-friendly manner and helps to centralize government operations online.
SILVER
The new portal for judgments search is set to provide access to Judgments and Final Orders of the High Courts and Supreme Court of India to a person with disabilities.
2.Digital Initiatives at Grassroots Level
PLATINUM
e-Vivechna App (MP)
This app of Madhya Pradesh facilitates the investigating officer to collect evidence and statements from the crime scence and link it over to relevant FIR.
GOLD
DeGS Computer Basic Training Grassroot level
(Jharkhand)
To improve employability and productivity of people by means of Computer training and soft skills development in Koderma District.
SILVER
Ksheerasree Portal (Kerala)
Ksheerasiri Kerala is an online application that offers services and solutions to dairy cooperative societies, including Dairy Farmers
3. Digital Initiatives for Ease of Doing Business
PLATINUM
Mine Mitra (UP)
Mine-Mitra App is a user-friendly app developed for the Common Man, Farmer, Stockiest, Transporter, District Administration and Directorate of Geology & Mining (DGM) Officers.
GOLD
eAbkari (Odisha)
The Excise Department of Odisha government has switched over to digital workplace eAbakari since 2019-20 and developed and implemented more than 30 online module like e – lottery, renewal of excise licence registration with 100% online payment etc.
SILVER
Invest Punjab
In Punjab it is a singal point of contact for facilitation of investors who are looking to set up a buisness in the state of Punjab.
4. Data Sharing and Use for Socio Economic Development
PLATINUM
Smart Cities Mission, M/o Housing and Urban Affairs
It is a program by the Government of India to improve people’s living quality in cities and towns by using best practices information .
GOLD
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
CBSE has been at the forefront of major digital intiatives which encompass various processes like affiliation, registration of students, uploading of marks and many such major changes over the last 2 years which provided CBSE an edge over other boards.
SILVER
Center for e-governance (Karnataka)
It is an autonomous and independent body set up for conceptualizing, implementing and monitoring various e-Governance initiatives in Karnataka.
5. Public Digital Platforms – Central Ministries, Departments, and States
PLATINUM
DUARE SARKAR (West Bengal)
It is an initiative by the Government of West Bengal for the delivery of specific schemes at the doorstep of the people through outreach camps. They are organised at the level of gram panchayat and municipal ward level.

e-Services Manipur
Here, citizens of Manipur have online access to apply for certificates, track application and download certificates such as Permanent Resident, Domicile, SC, ST, Birth, Death Certificate etc by themselves.

ICEGATE Portal
Indian Customs Electronic Data Interchange Gateway (ICEGATE) is the National portal of Indian Customs of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to provide e-filing services to Trade, cargo carriers and other trading partners electronically.

eShram
This portal provide the facility for unorganised workers to self register themselves on government portal.

Digital Workforce Management System (Kerala)
A platform that connects all stakeholders in creating a knowledge-based ecosystem.

Smart Nutrient Management of the Soil (Telangana)
It manages the application of commercial fertilizers, manure, amendments, and organic by-products to agricultural landscapes as a source of plant nutrients.
SILVER
Digital Deposit Refund System (Uttarakhand)
It encourages consumers to bring-back their waste (plastic packaging or e-waste) for a refundable deposit, collected at the time of purchase and this work in done online as well.

PLATINUM
Bilaspur District Website (Chhattisgarh)
The innovative website developed by Bilaspur District administration upload information about central and state Government schemes and has special facilites for differently abled .Visually impaired people can also listen these information through software.
GOLD
Website of Kottayam District (Kerala)
The website, Kottayam.gov.in has won the award in the category of the best website that follows the guidelines set by the union Government.
SILVER
Website of Central Institute of Petrochemicals, Engineering & Technology
CIPET received the DIA 2022 award for compiling with GIGW (Guidelines for Indian Government Website) and accessibility guidelines.
