Kyoto, Mar 30: Cherry blossoms bloomed the earliest this year, breaking a record of 1,200 years. Climatic changes, which have been occurring globally, are responsible for this. According to data collected (Osaka Prefecture University) over 1,000 years, cherry blossoms would flower between April 10th to 17th .
However, this year, they started blooming on the 26th of March. These flowers are highly valuable for climate change research because of their length, and the strong sensitivity of flowering to springtime temperatures.
