New Delhi, May 6: China launched an unmanned space module on April 29th, 2021 through its largest rocket, named Long March 5B. To descend back, this rocket has to re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere in a controlled manner. However, the Chinese Space Administration Agency has lost control over it. This has posed a major threat of
when and how is it going to re-enter earth. The US Department of Defence and European Space Agency are
tracking the uncontrolled return of the Chinese rocket by plotting updates on its location as it descends. They are expecting the re-entry to happen during this weekend, between May 8 and 10. The exact location and time of re-entry into the Earth’s atmosphere cannot be tracked until just hours before its actual occurrence. The roughly hundred feet tall object that weighs around 20 tonnes is presently orbiting the Earth every 90 minutes at a speed of 7km/hour. The major concern is that it could fall on any place on the Earth and cause damage.
