China census drive starts to know its population
China is the world’s fourth largest country and has more people than any other country in the world. And apart with China’s interest in technology and politics, China is about to begin a massive census drive to understand its population.
WHAT IS CENSUS?
Census is a very special activity. In this, a country counts all its people to know exactly how many people live in the country and their distribution. China conducts a Census once every 10 years. It started its Census exercise today. For the next two months, around 7 million professionals will go door to door gathering information from each household.
In addition to the number of people who live there, Census also collects information about important things like education and income levels, migration, etc.
