Three Indian Children Reach The Finals of Children’s Climate Prize

Stand Tall Amongst Seventy Contestants From Twenty-Four Countries

Chennai, Nov 19: Every year, the Children’s Climate Foundation at Stockholm, Sweden- honours children who have made extraordinary efforts for climate and environment. This year, three children from India were among the seven selected finalists out of more than seventy nominations received from 24 countries. They are Aaday Joshi from Mumbai, Vinisha Umashankar from Tiruvannamalai, and Dhruv Sanjay from Ernakulam.

Aaday Joshi won the Climate prize under the Changemaker category. She founded ‘The Right Green’, a biodiversity project to enable communities to restore healthy ecosystems. She combined modern database technology with the traditional knowledge of native plants to empower local communities. Vinisha Umashankar won the prize under the Clean Air Category. She created a solar ironing cart as an alternative to the iron that uses coal, which creates a menace to the air and environment. Dhruv Sanjay has developed a pollution free, solar powered stove.
