Bulgaria, Estonia, and Italia – All 3 PMs resign within a month

Kiril Petkov, the acting PM of Bulgaria who just resigned

On June 27th, 2022, Kiril Petkov, the President of Bulgaria, resigned after losing a Trust vote in the parliament.

He was elected in December 2021.

President Rumen Radev is likely to announce snap polls. This will be Bulgaria’s fourth election since 2021.

Estonia

The Estonian Prime Minister, Kaja Kallas, also saw her government lose the Confidence Motion of July 14, because of the breakdown of her coalition.

However, after resigning of July 14th, she immediately signed a new coalition – as early as July 15, and is likely to be back in the saddle.

Italy

The Italian Prime Minister, Mari Draghi, also lost the confidence vote. His coalition collapsed too.

He tendered (gave) his resignation but President Sergio Mattarella rejected the resignation. He has asked the Prime Minister to come back to the Parliament next week and review the political situation.
