Book Review: Turtles all the way down

Book by John Green

Review by Samaira Dewan

Aza and her best friend, Daisy, try to find a wanted person for a huge reward, but he happens to be the father of Aza’s childhood friend.

The main characters in this book are Aza, Daisy, and Davis. Two out of the three characters are just annoying or plain boring. I liked Aza but felt that Daisy could have been better. I started out loving her, but she just didn’t know when to stop. She wrote mean fan fiction about her ‘best friend’ and then told Aza straight up that it was her fault. Not that she was sorry. Maybe she should have discussed whatever problems she had with Aza like normal friends do. But she doesn’t? And Aza is mostly okay with that? Their friendship is so toxic that they would be MUCH better off without knowing each other.

Davis is an average character. I felt like he could have had a better personality that was well developed, but it wasn’t like I disliked him. He was nice.

It promised a mystery but it was instead a drama. I did like it, though. The writing was nice and I liked the ending. The book wasn’t bad, but it had so much potential to be more. If I had to rate it, I would give it a 2.5 out of 5.
