A girl reading atop a pile of books

Book Review: tiny tales by Tashi Namgyal Academy

This review is being written by an adult.

Reading this book is like stepping into a portal that takes one to a different world. The stories are so sweet!

Each story is just about a few lines, making the stories easy to read for young readers. That they have been written by children will ensure that the stories and the language are relatable. Somehow adults writing for kids just don’t get the vibe right. Reading this book makes you realise that.

Many of the stories are fantasy. Some are slice of life. Some talk about the dreams of the children. As varied as they are, the stories are uniformly spell binding.

I love that the cover illustrations are also by kids.

If you are an adult, I would recommend this book for a metro ride or while waiting for something to start. The book can be read in under an hour, but oh, what an hour it turns out to be!

If you are a child or a parent, please do use this book to read along to your child. This is what children’s authors should read to understand what real innocence looks like, and how kids really talk. There is no need to preach, or for the story to have a moral, call to action, or even a thought prompt. The point of being a story is to BE a story.
