A A Milne is known as the bestselling author of Winnie the Pooh – a delightful set of friends whose adventures have entertained children.
But he also wrote one mystery book. It was the only mystery book or story ever written by him – The Red House Mystery.
The book is ideal for readers 8 and above.
Like all mysteries, it has a crime, a detective, and a plot.
The writing is descriptive and takes the reader to a house in the English countryside very easily.
The characters are believable.
The plot might appear a little stretched, but at no point does the reader lose interest because events happen quickly and clues are revealed in each chapter.
If mystery is a genre you like, this is a great book. We would not recommend this book as an introduction to the mystery genre. For that, good old Sherlock Holmes and Enid Blyton are still the best.
