India, Jan 23: Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) is committed to the sustenance of the power-positive airport by using green energy. It recently commissioned one of the biggest floating solar power plants in Kerala with a capacity to produce 452 kWh. With this, the airport can produce 1.6 lakh units of power a day while it consumes around 1.3 lakhs units per day. In this installation, French technology-driven, cost-effective high-density polyethylene floats have been used. 1300 photovoltaic panels were mounted on these floats and laid over 2 artificial lakes located on the 130 acre CIAL golf course. This technology is scalable and compatible with a wide range of equipment and provides ease of installation and decommissioning.
