Gandhinagar, Sep 13: 59-year-old, first term Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), BJP’s Bhupendra Patel succeeded Vijay Rupani as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and took oath at 2:20 pm on Monday, 13th Sep 2021. He was sworn in by Acharya Devvrat, the Governor of Gujarat at the Raj Bhawan in Gandhinagar. He is now the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam’s CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarna, Goa’s CM Pramod Sawant, Karnataka’s CM Basavaraj Bommai, and Madhya Pradesh’s CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Gujarat’s Ex-CM Vijay Rupani resigned on 11th Sep 2021, 15 months ahead of the State Assembly poll. Bhartiya Janata Party has been in power in Gujarat since 1995.
