An Auto Expo is an annual event at which vehicle companies unveil their new products. Some of these products are at prototype stage (where a working model has been created and tested but the commercial launch is not yet planned.)
Some of them are just before the commercial launch.
A technical expo like the Auto Expo helps companies showcase their innovation, and also, hopefully, attract customers for launches that are expected in the next few months.
This year’s Auto Expo in India is from 11 – 18 January at Greater Noida.
From the first reports, a lot of EVs (Electrical Vehicles) are expected to be unveiled.
We present some highlights.
Self-Balancing Scooter
Liger Mobility (Booth E53, Hall 4), a startup incubated at IIT Bombay and started by alumni of IIT Bombay and ISB, Hyderabad, has unveiled a two-wheeler that balances on its own.
This is reported as the world’s first self-balancing scooter. The technology has been developed completely in-house by the team.
Ashok Leyland
Ashok Layland celebrated its completion of 75 years. It also unveiled its new tagline and campaign slogan – Koi Manzil Door Nahi (No Destination too far).
Its subsidiary, Switch Mobility, also showcased some novel Electric buses. The double decker bus is likely to be used by BEST – Brihanmumbai Transport Corporation.
