ISRO – Indian Space Research Organisation is India’s leading space research agency.
In the last few years, ISRO has made an effort to get young people interested in space tech.
For this, the management of ISRO, supported by the Government of India, has taken steps like the Yuvika Program, an online space quiz, and an online portal for citizens to learn about space exploration and the use of space technology.
Today, we cover an amazing website that ISRO has for students of all ages.
ISRO Antriksh Jigyasa
Antriksh Jigyasa (Antriksh: Space; Jigyasa: Curiosity) has videos, an interactive virtual gallery, and quizzes from time to time.
Here are the details about the learning and enrichment resources on the website:
(content from the official website, About Us page).
Shiksha Gagan
It is an active learning virtual platform which offers self-paced online courses on space science, technology, and its applications.
The learners have to follow the defined course guidelines of each course, participate in the online activities and assessments to get the course completion certificate.
The courses are available as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
Like all MOOCs, registration can be done at any time and the course can be completed any time within 3 months.
The courses available right now are:
Space Varta
This project has ISRO scientists who share the theory behind scientific concepts related to specific areas of space science, technology and applications, their experience in implementing the systems, success stories, and outcomes of major space missions.
It is an interactive programme for the registered listeners.
The live sessions are also available through social media platforms and on the website.
Registered users can post questions during the live session and the selected questions will be answered by the subject matter expert.
Space Quiz
It is an online quiz platform for young students. The event-based space Quiz will be available on specific themes/topics related to space science, technology, and applications.
The quizzes are announced by ISRO on regular basis and are completed within a certain time.
On scoring a minimum required score, a completion certificate from ISRO is given to the students.
SPARK- Space Park
SPARK is ISRO’s first-ever 3D virtual space tech park which includes a museum, theatre, an observatory, a garden with life-sized rockets, a lakeside cafe area, and a children’s play area, along with several other interactions.
Inside the main museum building, one can explore various exhibits on ISRO’s achievements, satellites, and launch vehicles.
The visitors also get access to the documents about all the top scientists who contributed to the success story of the ISRO.
We could not enter the Tech Park on Microsoft Edge, but it works just fine on Mozilla Firefox.
