Amazon gets a new CEO Report by Amey Haldankar

Delhi, Jul 7: One of the largest companies in the world, Amazon, has a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) – Andy Jassy. He takes charge from the Founder and current CEO, Jeff Bezos.
Mr. Bezos left Amazon because he wanted to give more attention to his space projects (which includes Blue Origin, the project to travel to space). Andy Jassy is an executive who has spent 25 years with Jeff Bezos.
Andy Jassy is an American professional who was responsible for Amazon Web series and Amazon Music. After graduation from Harvard University, he tried starting his own company with his colleagues but failed. That’s when he started working for Amazon in 1997.
In 2003, Andy and Jeff Bezos came up with a plan and Andy, along with 57 other members, headed it. This project was the now famous Amazon Web Services – launched in 2006.
In 2016, he was honoured as Person of the Year by the Financial Times. And the following month, he was promoted as the CEO of Amazon Web Services.
On Monday, he took over as the CEO of Amazon. He is now entrusted with handling a multi-billion- dollar company.
