Why was October 27th selected as Infantry Day?

On the 75th Infantry Day, General Bipin Rawat, Chief of Defence Staff, General MM Naravane, Chief of Army Staff, Colonels of the Infantry Regiments, and other senior officers laid wreaths (a wreath is a circular arrangement of flowers. It is offered to denote respect) at the Amar Jawan Jyoti.
