As we look forward to Republic Day 2023, here are some highlights of the celebrations this year.
The Chief Guest is the President of Egypt, Mr. Abdelfattah Elsisi. He has arrived in Delhi on a 4-day official State visit. This is the first time that Egypt has been invited as the Chief Guest.
A contingent of the Egyptian Army will also be marching in the Republic Day parade. They have been practising in the national capital.
There are a total of 23 tableaus in the parade this year.
This is the first Republic Day since the inauguration of the Central Vista.
As usual, the President will address the nation on the eve of the Republic Day – today.
During the flypast, 57 aircraft from 7 different air bases will present aerial acrobatics.
The first row, usually reserved for VVIPs, will be reserved for the workers of the Central Vista, their families, and other citizens of India. There will be no VVIP enclosure.
Garud Special Forces of the Indian Air Force are participating for the first time in the Republic Day parade. Squadron Leader PS Jaitawat will be leading the Garud team as part of the IAF contingent. Sqn Ldr Sindhu Reddy will be the contingent commander.
Once the backbone of Maritime Reconnaissance, the IL 38 SD (Sea Dragon) ac would be phased out of #IndianNavy in 2023.
