68th National Film Awards (2020, presented in 2022)

Sushri Droupadi Murmu, The President of India, honoured the winners of the 68th National Film Awards. The ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on 30th September 2022.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Chairpersons of Jury, and other dignitaries also attended the ceremony.

Smt. Droupadi Murmu has also highlighted the recognition of Indian music abroad. She said that in July this year, a meeting of foreign ministers of the member countries of Shanghai Co-operation Organization was held in Uzbekistan where a song from 1960s Hindi film was performed by a foreign band at the closing ceremony.

Awards and Awardees

On 30th September 2022, President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the winners in different categories.

The state government of Madhya Pradesh was awarded “The Most Film Friendly state” for the second time in five years. 

The award ceremony also included the 52nd Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which was presented to Sushri Asha Parekh for her contribution to Indian cinema.

The winners in the Feature Film and Non-Feature Film categories were announced in July this year (Feature Film is mainly based on fiction. Non- Feature film works on facts and reality).  

S Thaman was awarded with the Best Music Director award for “Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo”,

TV Rambabu with the Best Make-up Artist award for the movie “Natyam”,

Sandhya Raju with Best Choreography award for “Natyam”.

Director Angirekula Sandeep Raj and Producer Sai Rajesh Neelam, both were awarded for the Best Feature Film in Telugu which is Colour Photo.

“Testimony of Ana” was conferred the award for Best Non-Feature Film during the ceremony while “Soorarai Pottru” was awarded the Best Feature Film.

Suriya and Ajay Devgon jointly received the Best Actor Award while Aparna Balamurali was conferred the award for Best Actress.

Sachidanandan KR was given the Best Director award for Malayalam movie “AK Ayyappanum Koshiyum”. 

“Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior” received the Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

4 child actors got the Best Child Artist Award – Naga Vishal, Akansha Pingle, Divyesh Indulkar, and Anish Mangesh Gosavi.
