Sports News: 88th National Snooker and Billiards Championship, 2021

Pankaj Advani, the current National champion in billiards, successfully defended his title and won his 11th national billiards title. This was the 88th national  billiards championship.

He defeated Dhruv Sitwala 5-2 in a final of Best of Nine games format.

Brijesh Damani of Indian Oil won the bronze.

This is Pankaj Advani’s 35th title overall. He has 24 international wins in two sports – billiards and snooker. He is the only player with international wins in both snooker and billiards.

This championship had 3 sports –

  • Billiards,
  • Snooker (senior and junior), and
  • 6 Red Snooker.

All 3 events are being held for men and women both.

The championship is being held at Sage University, Bhopal.

The 6 red snooker event (women) ended on December 3rd and was won by Vidya Viswanathan Pillai. Varsha Sanjeev got the silver medal. Shrikrishna won the gold in the men’s event.

In the snooker championship (Men’s event), S. Malkeet Singh of Indian Railways won the silver medal, while Ishpreet Singh of Maharashtra won the gold.

In the Women’s snooker championship, Amee Kamani won the gold, defeating Anupama Ramachandran 3-1. Anupama Ramachandran is currently the top ranked female billiards player of India, while Amee Kamani is the top ranked female snooker player.
