13 year old girl from Madurai appointed as Goodwill Ambassador by UN

Opportunity to address Civil Society forums and conferences at the UN

Chennai, Jun 06: Nethra Mohandass, from Madurai, TamilNadu
has been appointed as ‘Goodwill Ambassador to the Poor’ for
United Nations Association for Development and Peace
(UNADAP). Nethra will be given the opportunity to speak at the
UN civil society forums and conferences in New York and
Geneva. This will give her an opportunity to speak to world
leaders and reformers and encourage them to reach out and help
the poorest of the poor.


She convinced her father, who is a barber to donate 5 lakhs to
600 poor and needy families amid lockdown, the amount he had
stored for her future education. Such selflessness and kindness
was recognized by PM Narendra Modi who appreciated her and
her family.

She also received the Dixon scholarship of 1 lakh rupees.
