The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu conferred the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, 2023 on 11 children at an award ceremony held in New Delhi on January 23, 2023.
Speaking on the occasion, the President said that children are the invaluable assets of our country. Every effort made to build their future would shape the future of our society and country. We should make every effort for their safe and happy childhood and bright future. By awarding the children, we are encouraging and honouring their contribution in nation-building.
About the Awards
The Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar are awarded to children in the age group 5 – 18 years, for their excellence in six categories –
Art and Culture,
Bravery,
Innovation,
Scholastic Achievement,
Social Service, and
Sports.
This year, awards were presented to 11 students in the categories of Art and Culture, Bravery, Innovation, Social Service and Sports. All 11 winners come from different states.
Rishi Shiv Prasanna – 8 years old – from Karnataka – for developing an app. He has an IQ of 180!
Anoushka Jolly – 14 years old – from Delhi – for developing a Suraksha Kawach app (Social Service)
M. Gauravi Reddy – for promoting Kuchipudi as a dance form. (Art and Culture)
Shauryajit Ranjitkumar Khaire – 10 years old – from Gujarat – for Mallkhamb performance (Sports)
K A Meenakshi – from Andhra Pradesh – for being an international chess player at a young age.
Aditya Pratap Singh Chauhan – from Chhatisgarh – for creating a technology to detect microplastics in water (Innovation)
Hanaya Nisar – from Jammu and Kashmir – World SQAY Martial Arts Championship (Sports)
Rohan Ramachandra Bahir – for jumping into a river to save a life (Bravery)
Aadithya Suresh – from Kerala – for being an accomplished singer in spite of having a rare bone disorder (Arts and Culture)
Shreya Bhattcharjee – from Assam – for the record of playing tabla for the longest duration (Arts and Culture)
Sambhab Mishra – from Odisha – for being an accomplished writer (Arts and Culture)
